When shopping for a new home, an important
thing to consider is the floor plan. A poor floor plan can be
tough to live with, even if you think it is fun or unique. It
can also hurt the resale value of a home. Here’s what to
look for:
| ·
|
Versatile
rooms. A room that can be used as an office, den or guest
room can be appealing to a number of people, which makes your
home easier to sell. |
| |
| · |
Well-designed
kitchens. A kitchen that is dim, cramped and hard to use
will never be an easy sell. Look for kitchens with good
lighting, lots of counter space and outlets and adequate
space for appliances.

What
do you think of when someone says “spring?” Birds
singing, flowers blooming… Have plenty of both by choosing
bird-friendly plants for your garden or yard. Bird-friendly plants
are typically species that provide both food and shelter for your
winged visitors. Some of the most popular of these plants are:
- Shrubs: Sumac, elderberry, viburnum and boxwood are all good
choices.
- Small trees: Try planting holly, serviceberry or dogwood
trees.
- Fruiting trees and shrubs: Really give birds something to
sing about with blueberry, cherry, crab apple, hawthorn, mountain
ash, spicebush, sassafras or black gum plants.
- Annuals: Amaranthus, coreopsis, cosmos, marigold, sunflower
and zinnia flowers all attract birds.
- Perennials: Flowers such as aster, black-eyed Susan, goldenrod,
purple coneflower and grasses such as little bluestem are appealing
to birds.
Planting a few or several of these choices will quickly make
your home the #1 choice on your block for beautiful birds!
