“The sweet calm sunshine of October, now Warms the low spot; upon its grassy mould The purple oak-leaf falls; the birchen bough Drops its bright spoil like arrow-heads of gold.”

William Cullen Bryant, “October 1866,” American poet and journalist, (1794 – 1878)

Tip of the Month

Early fall is the ideal time to seed or reseed your lawn. To ensure a beautiful, lush lawn, it is crucial to select the correct seed mixture for your climate and your lawn’s location on your property and add rich, crumbly soil to create a nutritional foundation.

To seed or reseed your lawn, follow these easy steps:

1. Dig up or kill existing vegetation and briskly rake up any dead vegetation.
2. Put down ½-inch of crumbly top soil, leveling it off with a rake.
3. Spread grass seed by hand and then lightly rake it in.
4. Water area daily until the seed has germinated and filled in the space.
