Maria was born and raised in La Canada and is a lifetime resident of the Foothill community. She attended the local schools: Flintridge Sacred Heart High School and Loyola Marymount University, as well as Loyola in Rome, Italy and De Paul University in Chicago, where she finished her graduate studies.
